Diversity and Inclusion Policies
Clarkson seeks to promote a community that respects and engages individual differences (e.g., personality, learning styles, and life experiences) and group/social differences (e.g., race/ethnicity, class, gender, sexual orientation, country of origin, and ability as well as cultural, political, religious, or other affiliations) in the service of building a more robust, inclusive learning and working environment. To this end we seek to promote an intentional and inclusive engagement with diversity by increasing community members’ awareness, content knowledge, cognitive sophistication, and emphatic understanding of the complex ways individuals interact within systems and institutions. We do this not only to improve our Clarkson Community, but instill in the values of diversity in our community members so that they may promote inclusive engagement in other communities to which they will belong.
We see our non-discrimination statement and compliance efforts as a keystone in these efforts.
